Maxitrol RV47CL-1/2 Regulator
The Maxitrol RV47CL-1/2 Gas Regulator is a specialized appliance regulator engineered for high-precision pressure control in residential and commercial gas-fired systems. Built with a 1/2" NPT connection and a high-strength aluminum die-cast housing, this rubber seat poppet regulator is designed to handle a maximum inlet pressure of 1/2 PSI. It features an integral vent limiting orifice, which simplifies installation by eliminating the need for a separate vent line to the outdoors in most jurisdictions. This field convertible gas regulator is factory-set for 4" w.c. Natural Gas or 10" w.c. LP Gas, allowing technicians to adapt to site requirements quickly. With a BTU capacity of up to 125,000 BTU for burner and pilot applications, it ensures stable delivery for water heaters, furnaces, and boilers. The multi-poise mounting capability allows for installation at any angle, providing flexibility in tight cabinet spaces while maintaining tight shut-off characteristics across natural, manufactured, and mixed gases.
Key Technical Benefits:- Field Conversion Capability: Easily switch between Natural Gas (4" w.c.) and LP Propane (10" w.c.) configurations to meet specific appliance requirements.
- Internal Vent Limiting: Features an integral vent limiter to ensure safe operation without secondary piping, adhering to industry safety standards.
- Precision Low-Flow Control: The rubber seat poppet design provides superior regulation for both main burners and low-input pilot lights.
- Versatile Installation: Supports multi-poise mounting (any plane or angle), making it ideal for retrofits in compact mechanical rooms.
- Robust Construction: Die-cast aluminum body provides long-term durability against technical stress in high-demand heating environments.
What is the maximum output capacity of the RV47CL-1/2?
This regulator supports a capacity of up to 125,000 BTU for burner and pilot applications, or 40,000 BTU when used with a fixed orifice.
Can this regulator be used for high-pressure gas lines?
No, the Maxitrol RV47CL-1/2 is rated for a 1/2 PSI maximum inlet pressure. It is designed as an appliance regulator, not a line pressure regulator for high-pressure systems.
Does this model require a vent line to the atmosphere?
Thanks to the integral vent limiting orifice, a dedicated vent line is typically not required, provided the installation complies with local codes for indoor appliance regulators.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Ask a Question-
There’s no shut off valve before my valve. Is this valve fail close and a manual valve not needed?
We don't see any data on that. Please see link below for the tech sheet or contact Maxitrol Tech Support for more info.

I have a Maxitrol RV47L for my natural gas Weber grill that I’ve had for many years. I am converting the grill to use propane at our new house and need to know what replacement regulator I need. Or is there a way to convert the current regulator for propane use?
They no longer let you swap the springs on those regs anymore. You would have to replace the whole regulator with a RV47L-1/2-412. This would have a 4-12”WC range. Typically 11” is what would be used on propane.
