As a seasoned tech, you know that a failing pressure switch is a top cause for "no heat" calls in Hydrotherm systems. The Hydrotherm BM-8024 Pressure Switch is the genuine OEM replacement for many Hydrotherm boilers and residential heating units. It features a reliable SPST (Single Pole Single Throw) electrical configuration, making it a drop-in solution for maintaining the critical safety circuit during the sequence of operation. This switch is built with a standard 1/4" barb connection for a secure, leak-free vacuum hose attachment, ensuring the inducer fan is pulling the correct inches of water column before allowing the main gas valve to energize. Replacing a generic or worn-out switch with this HVAC pressure switch ensures your repairs meet factory specifications and restore boiler safety controls to peak performance.

Key Benefits for the Contractor

  • OEM Compatibility: Precision-engineered for Hydrotherm boiler parts replacement, ensuring perfect fitment and electrical alignment.
  • Durable Construction: Built to withstand high-temperature environments typical of residential heating systems.
  • Standardized Fit: The 1/4" barb fitting simplifies installation and interfaces seamlessly with existing pressure tubing.
  • Safety Compliance: Reliable on/off pressure control prevents burner ignition in the event of venting issues or inducer failure.

Common Questions

What was the sequence of operation for this part?
On a call for heat, the inducer starts, creating a pressure differential. This SPST switch closes its internal contacts, sending a 24V signal back to the control board to prove the exhaust vent is clear before ignition.

Will this work as a universal replacement?
While the 1/4" barb is common, pressure switches are factory-set to specific wc (water column) trip points. Using the BM-8024 ensures you have the exact safety tolerances required for compatible Hydrotherm models.

Is the 1/4" barb connection secure?
Yes, the barb is designed for a friction fit with standard HVAC vacuum hoses. For high-vibration environments, professionals often use a small zip tie to ensure the hose remains seated during HVAC troubleshooting.
