Lochinvar & A.O. Smith 100288535 Gas Valve
The Lochinvar & A.O. Smith 100288535 Gas Valve is a critical OEM replacement part engineered for high-performance LP gas boilers and water heaters. Designed for 24V circuits, this valve features a 3/4" NPT connection and is factory-set for a 10" WC (Water Column) outlet pressure, ensuring precise fuel regulation for liquid propane systems. As a direct successor to legacy part numbers VAL2929 and 100171896, it offers a seamless fit for technicians performing HVACR maintenance or emergency repairs. This redundant gas valve utilizes a multi-pin connector for simplified troubleshooting and electrical continuity, maintaining the integrity of the combustion system. Its robust construction is built to withstand the demanding cycles of residential and commercial boiler gas control, providing reliable ignition sequence support and stable burner pressure. Contractors trust this genuine Lochinvar part to restore factory-spec efficiency and safety to Knight boilers and other compatible A.O. Smith heating equipment without the need for field modifications.
Key Benefits- Direct OEM Replacement: Replaces VAL2929 and 100171896 with exact 3/4" inlet/outlet dimensions.
- Precision Pressure Regulation: Pre-configured for 10" WC LP applications to ensure optimal air-fuel ratios.
- Fast Electrical Integration: Built-in 24V coil and plug-in type connectors reduce diagnostic and installation time.
- Enhanced System Safety: Redundant valve seats provide a fail-safe mechanism within the heating control circuit.
Is the 100288535 compatible with Natural Gas units?
No, this valve is specifically calibrated for Propane (LP) at 10" WC. Using this in a NG system will cause improper combustion and safety hazards.
Does this valve solve "GV Relay Fail" lockout errors?
While a faulty valve is a common cause, technicians should also verify the wiring harness and control board voltage before replacement.
Can I use a 1/2" adapter with this 3/4" gas valve?
Per standard mechanical codes, always match the manifold size requirement; restricting gas flow with adapters may lead to ignition failure or burner instability.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Ask a Question-
I have a Lochinvar Model RBL 180, Control No. F-9, Serial #A961886, ANS Z21.136b, manufactured January 1996, LP gas, low-pressure boiler. LP gas valve for the hot water baseboard heat boiler is leaking and needs replacement. Gas valve on boiler is a White-Rodgers: Model 36C74 Type 432 24V, 60HZ, .6 amps, E20 max pressure 1/2psi, 9551 LP Reg 10.0", WC(7.5" - 12.0") Step 2.2" WC. Lochinvar rep stated 1000171896 is replacement, they didn't show 100288535. Is this valve compatible with the old White-Rodgers valve? Thanks.
