For service technicians and mechanical contractors maintaining high-efficiency furnace platforms, the Rheem-Ruud 47-22861-04 Limit Switch serves as a critical safety component. This genuine OEM furnace limit switch is engineered with a 250°F fixed open temperature to prevent overheating within the heat exchanger and blower assembly. Classified as a SPST normally closed switch, it features an exposed disc face for precise sensing and a manual reset mechanism (identifiable by the red color coding) to ensure the system remains locked out until a professional inspection is performed. Designed for flanged airstream mounting, this limit switch replacement utilizes 1/4" quick-connect terminals for a secure electrical interface, compatible with 120/230VAC circuits. Whether you are servicing R96VA, RGTA, or other high-performance multi-position gas furnaces, this manual reset limit switch provides the exact calibration required for factory-spec thermal protection and operational safety in high-demand HVACR environments.

Key Benefits
  • Precise Thermal Calibration: Fixed 250°F open temperature ensures reliable lockout during high-temperature excursions.
  • OEM Compatibility: Direct replacement for part numbers 47-22861-04 and 47-104888-01, ensuring physical and electrical fitment.
  • Contractor-Grade Durability: Standard SPST (Single Pole Single Throw) configuration rated for 15A/10A current loads.
  • Streamlined Installation: Features a 3/16" maximum insertion depth and universal 1/4" male spade terminals.
Common Questions

Is this switch an automatic or manual reset?
This is a manual reset switch (red body). Once the temperature exceeds 250°F and the circuit opens, the technician must manually depress the reset button after the temperature drops below the 130°F threshold.

Can I use this as a universal replacement for other 250-degree limits?
While the temperature rating is common, the flanged airstream mounting and specific insertion depth are designed for Rheem and Ruud equipment. Always verify your specific furnace model compatibility before installation.

What does the red color coding signify?
In the Rheem-Ruud parts ecosystem, the red color on the limit switch typically indicates a manual reset requirement, distinguishing it from silver or gold auto-reset components.
