Williams P296201 Switch
The Williams P296201 Switch is a mission-critical differential temperature switch designed specifically for Williams Forsaire Counterflow top vent and Magnum High Efficiency furnace models. This genuine OEM replacement part functions as a high-limit safety and blower control, featuring a fixed 165°F setpoint for circuit interruption or activation, with a precise 35°F differential. When the heat exchanger reaches the 165°F threshold, the switch engages or disengages as configured (on/off), reset occurs once the temperature drops 35°F below the limit, ensuring stable thermal regulation and preventing short-cycling.
For service technicians, the P296201 provides a rugged SPDT contact configuration that supports various wiring requirements for industrial and residential HVAC units. The NEMA 1 enclosure protects the internal mechanism, while the design allows for seamless surface mount installation or 1/2-inch NPT alignment. Maintaining these HVAC temperature control parameters is essential for protecting the furnace from overheating and ensuring the blower fan activates only at optimal heat levels.
Key Benefits- Precise Thermal Management: Features a 165°F activation point with a 35°F reset differential for reliable furnace blower fan control.
- OEM Compatibility: Specifically engineered for Williams 5508, 6508, and 6008A series models to maintain factory specifications.
- Industrial-Grade Build: Enclosed in a NEMA 1 housing for enhanced durability in demanding mechanical environments.
- Versatile Wiring: The SPDT switch design allows for flexible application as either a high-limit safety or fan control component.
Is the Williams P296201 an auto-reset or manual reset switch?
This specific limit switch operates with an automatic reset circuit; once the temperature drops below the 35°F differential, the contacts return to their original state.
What furnace models are compatible with this selector switch?
It is primarily utilized in Williams Forsaire Counterflow Top Vent (5508, 6508) and Magnum High Efficiency (6008A) series heaters.
Can I use this as a replacement for different temperature ranges?
No, for safety compliance and system efficiency, always match the original 165F 35F DIF specs. Using an incorrect differential can lead to heat exchanger damage or improper fan operation.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Ask a Question-
I have a williams wall furnance 6508632, and the fan low speed will shut off with burner still going then start back up in high speed instead of going to high speed while in low speed , do you think this part is what is going bad or a nother one, it also has limit switch p308600 and fan switch p200200 and limit switch 323379, If this is normal then I will leave it alone.
We are not sure which part, if any, is bad in your situation. If it has been acting this way all along and you are getting heat up as usual it is probably OK. Please check with a local contractor if needed since this kind of problem has to be checked on site. Thank you.
