The Copeland 510-0993-00 DTC Valve Group is the Discharge Temperature Control (DTC) valve assembly used to protect Copeland compressors from overheating on high discharge temperature. The group is a brass valve body with a copper capillary and sensing bulb, a black cap, and a sealing washer, supplied together as one OEM valve group.

The DTC valve is one half of Copeland’s discharge temperature control system. When the discharge line thermostat senses that temperature is climbing toward an unsafe level, the DTC valve opens and lets a controlled amount of liquid refrigerant into the compressor to pull discharge temperature back down before heat can damage reed valves, oil, and motor windings. This is most important on low-temperature and high compression ratio applications where discharge temperature runs hottest.
