The White Rodgers 1F89-0211 Thermostat is a dedicated 2H/1C non-programmable heat pump thermostat designed for reliable multi-stage performance in light commercial and residential HVACR applications. Operating on 24V low voltage systems, this unit supports dual power configurations—compatible with both C-wire hardwiring and battery power—ensuring the 2-square-inch blue backlit display remains visible in low-light mechanical rooms. Built for compatibility and performance, it handles up to two stages of heat and one stage of cooling, specifically engineered for standard heat pump systems with electric, gas, or oil auxiliary heating. Technicians can utilize the adjustable cycle rate (Fast/Slow settings) to optimize equipment run times and prevent short-cycling, while the permanent setpoint retention preserves user configurations during total power failure. The R, C, Y, W2, G, O/B, and L terminals allow for seamless integration with most multi-stage heat pump air handlers and condensers.

Key Benefits for Technicians:
  • Multi-Stage Flexibility: Supports 2 stage heat 1 stage cool configurations, accommodating auxiliary and emergency heat modes.
  • Dual-Power Reliability: Operates via 24VAC hardwire or battery power, providing a fail-safe for systems without a common wire.
  • Precision Control: Features a selectable cycle rate to match specific equipment requirements and reduce mechanical wear.
  • Field-Proven Interface: The blue backlit LCD and soft-touch keypad provide a rugged, easy-to-navigate interface for end-users.
  • Enhanced Protection: Includes compressor lockout protection to prevent rapid cycling and protect system integrity.
Common Installation & Support Questions:

Is the 1F89-0211 compatible with millivolt systems?
Yes, this model is millivolt compatible, making it a versatile choice for a wide range of heating applications including gas and oil systems.

How do I configure the O/B terminal for different brands?
The thermostat features an onboard O/B terminal switch. Set it to 'O' for the majority of heat pumps (energized in cooling) or to 'B' for specific brands like Rheem or Ruud that require the changeover relay to be energized in heating.

Does this thermostat require a C-wire?
While a C-wire is recommended for continuous backlighting and consistent 24V power, the 1F89-0211 can operate strictly on battery power if necessary, making it an ideal drop-in replacement for older two-wire or five-wire setups.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • My thermostat is set at 74 but in like a hour the temperature on the thermostat has risen to 88 but the thermostat is still set at 74 it gets so hot its unbearable what wrong with the thermostat

It could be the thermostat or something else like wiring, system controls etc. We suggest you have someone check it out since it is hard to pinpoint what the problem is without being there and checking the whole system. Thanks.
