The Maxitrol 325-5L-3/4 is a professional-grade gas line pressure regulator engineered specifically for 2 PSIG piping systems. This high-capacity component is built for residential, commercial, and industrial applications using natural gas or propane (LP). Featuring a robust lever-acting design, it provides precise regulation from full-rated flow down to bypass/pilot flow, ensuring stable delivery to downstream appliances. With a 3/4" NPT connection, the 325-5L is rated for a maximum individual load of 425,000 BTU/hr and a total combined load of 600,000 BTU/hr. This model utilizes a positive dead-end lockup to prevent downstream pressure spikes when the appliance is not in operation. As the updated replacement for models 325-5AL-3/4 and 325-5AL-66, it maintains ANSI Z21.80/CSA 6.22 certification. For indoor installations without a vent line, a 325-12A39 vent limiter must be added, while outdoor setups require a 13A15-5 vent protector to prevent debris and moisture ingress.

Key Benefits for Contractors

  • High-Capacity Throughput: Supports up to 600,000 BTU/hr maximum load, making it ideal for systems with multiple high-demand gas appliances.
  • Dead-End Lockup Security: The lever-acting linkage ensures a tight seal at zero flow, protecting downstream low-pressure valves from 2 PSI line pressure.
  • Broad Compatibility: Certified for use with natural, manufactured, mixed, and liquefied petroleum gases across black iron, CSST, or copper tubing.
  • Precision Control: Features a factory-set 7-11" w.c. outlet pressure range (white spring) to match standard appliance manifold requirements.
  • Compact Footprint: Aluminum housing allows for multi-positional mounting in tight mechanical rooms or appliance enclosures.

Common Questions

Is a vent limiter included with the 325-5L-3/4?
No, the standard 325-5L model does not include a vent limiter. For indoor applications requiring vent-limited operation (to avoid running a vent line to the outdoors), you must purchase the Maxitrol 12A39 vent limiter separately.

Can this regulator be used for outdoor installations?
Yes, but it must be protected from the elements. Installations outdoors should include the 13A15-5 vent protector mounted in an upright position to keep rain, snow, and insects out of the breather hole.

What is the difference between a 325-5 and a 325-5L?
The "L" designation signifies it is a certified line pressure regulator for 2 PSI systems (ANSI Z21.80). Models without the "L" are typically appliance regulators (ANSI Z21.18) and are not rated for the same high-pressure line applications.
