The Secop Diversitech 117U4127 Relay/Overload is a critical electrical component engineered for hermetic compressor systems in light commercial refrigeration and HVAC applications. This start relay and overload protector combo is specifically designed to manage the startup phase of the motor and provide continuous thermal and current monitoring. By integrating the starting mechanism with an automatic trip function, this unit ensures the compressor operates within safe electrical parameters, preventing motor burnout during high-torque starts or sustained overcurrent conditions. Typically found in 1/4 HP systems and compatible with various R134a and R513A refrigeration units, this component is a drop-in replacement for worn NCO-117U4127 assemblies. It simplifies field service by consolidating two protection devices into a single housing, ensuring reliable interface with compressor terminals and maintaining refrigeration compressor electrical protection in high-demand environments.

Key Benefits for Technicians:

  • Integrated Start Relay: Provides precise activation of the compressor’s start winding to ensure consistent motor ignition.
  • High-Current Overload Protection: Automatically breaks the circuit if temperature or current draw exceeds safety thresholds, protecting the motor windings.
  • Compact Design: The relay/overload combination allows for faster installation in tight electrical compartments.
  • Verified Compatibility: Trusted for use in condensing units, evaporators, and commercial reach-in freezers.
  • Professional Durability: Engineered by Secop to meet stringent light commercial performance standards.

Common Questions Regarding Secop 117U4127:

Is this relay compatible with non-Secop compressors?
While designed for Secop/Danfoss specifications, it may serve as a replacement in other systems if the compressor HP ratings and terminal orientations match. Always verify the cross-reference documentation.

Can I use the 117U4127 to troubleshoot a failing compressor?
Yes, if a compressor is "clicking" but failing to turn over, replacing a faulty relay/overload combo is a standard first step before diagnosing a locked rotor or internal mechanical failure.

What is the typical application for this part number?
It is primarily used in commercial refrigerators, small compressor racks, and industrial cooling systems requiring 1/4 HP starting torque.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • I need to know pin identification on the part for the replacement. My pins orientation on the compressor is common to the right, starter to the left and run at the top for a 1/18 hp compressor for a mini-refrigerator from the 1970's. This is a Sanyo compressor and the relay is beginning to make noise. The original part is not available. The Dan Foss part does not label the pin receptacle on the part.
