For professional contractors demanding peak system reliability, the Emerson Alco 062963 (Model ASF28S7) delivers industrial-grade protection for the compressor's suction side. Engineered as a high-capacity suction line filter drier, this 28 cubic inch unit is purpose-built to capture and retain solid contaminants like scale, weld slag, and carbon before they reach the crankcase. Featuring a 7/8" sweat (ODF) solid copper connection, it integrates seamlessly into the refrigerant piping while minimizing pressure drop. The internal filtration media is rated at 40 microns, providing a critical defense against particulate matter that causes premature valve failure. With a 500 PSI maximum pressure rating and dual access valves for accurate suction line pressure drop monitoring, this HVAC filter drier is compatible with all major HCFC and HFC refrigerants, including R-22 and R-410A. Its corrosion-resistant epoxy powder finish ensures long-term durability in demanding environments.

Key Benefits for Contractors:
  • Internal 40 Micron Filtration: Effectively traps dirt and metallic particles that standard liquid line driers might miss.
  • Dual Access Valves: Simplifies the process of measuring pressure differentials across the drier to determine system health.
  • High Acid/Moisture Capacity: The 28 cubic inch desiccant volume provides ample surface area for cleaning up systems after a burnout.
  • Rugged Shell Construction: Tested for a 500 PSI maximum working pressure to ensure safety in high-pressure air conditioning and refrigeration applications.
  • Solid Copper Connections: Prevents oxidation during the brazing process and ensures a leak-free 7/8" ODF fit.
Common Questions:
  • Can this be used on both the liquid and suction lines? No, the ASF28S7 is specifically optimized for suction line service with a low-pressure-drop design to protect the compressor heart.
  • Is this compatible with POE and Mineral oils? Yes, the Emerson Alco 062963 is fully compatible with modern polyolester and traditional mineral lubricants used in HVACR systems.
  • How do I know when to replace this filter drier? Using the integrated access ports, a technician should replace the unit if the measured pressure drop exceeds the manufacturer’s recommended limits for the specific refrigerant.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Why are suction filters solid copper connections the same size as the suction line to the compressor for which it is being installed ,which requires a smaller OD copper tube to install?

Not sure we understand the question correctly but the connection size usually means that it will fit the same size's ACR tubing. In other words the ID of the filter connection will match up to the OD of the ACR tubing.
