  • I need to replace this valve for my carrier heating and air conditioning unit. The copper tubing broke and I believe I lost my freeon in the unit. Could I purchase some freeon to charge this unit? I wanted to maybe fix this myself, as I have two similar units and may have to fix, charge or service either unit in future. I would like to know more about them and to see if it would be easy enough to do myself?

    Hi, if replacing a part requires handling of refrigerant (charging, reclaiming etc.) then by law a licensed / certified person is required to do the job. In addition only someone with an EPA 608 certificate or a refrigerant reseller can buy refrigerant legally. If the repair you are doing does not require handling of refrigerant then you can certainly do it yourself if you have the ability to do so. Hope this helps.
