This panel is for the type of wall heater i have in my living room. However, how can i tell if it will work for me if mine is too old to read the brand name? (The current front panel on my heater is bent in places and rust has begun to form.)

The best way to find out would be replying with the unit model and serial numbers so we can check with factory. Without those information there is really no way to be 100% sure it will fit. Thank you.
