Schneider Electric (Erie) VT3212G13B020 Valve Assembly
The Schneider Electric Erie VT3212G13B020 is a heavy-duty Three-Way PopTop Zone Valve Assembly engineered for high-performance hydronic control in commercial and residential HVAC systems. Designed with a 1/2" sweat connection and a 3.0 Cv flow coefficient, this two-position zone valve provides precise water regulation for fan coils, baseboards, and air handlers. The assembly features a high-torque 120Vac spring return actuator (AG13B020) that ensures a reliable fail-safe return to the normal position upon power loss.
For veteran contractors, the Erie PopTop series is the standard for ease of maintenance. The tool-less actuator removal button allows for rapid head replacement without breaking the brass valve body seal or draining the system. Utilizing a hysteresis synchronous motor, this assembly is built for long-cycle life in closed-loop systems. The 1/2 inch 3-way mixing/diverting configuration and 40 PSI close-off rating make it ideal for demanding terminal unit applications. Every unit includes a manual override lever for system flushing and commissioning, which automatically disengages once electrical power is applied.
- Direct Replacement: Compatible with most existing two-position terminal unit valve applications for seamless retrofits.
- Fail-Safe Protection: The spring return actuator ensures the valve returns to its original state during power interruptions.
- Pressure Rated: Forged brass body rated for up to 400 psi static pressure to handle high-head circulating pumps.
- Simplified Installation: Features 18-inch appliance wire leads and a "PopTop" design for quick electrical and mechanical coupling.
What is the difference between a mixing and diverting valve setup?
The VT3212G13B020 can be used for both. In a mixing application, two inlets combine into one outlet; in a diverting application, one inlet is directed to one of two outlets to bypass or satisfy a terminal load.
Can the actuator be mounted upside down?
No. To prevent moisture from entering the motor housing, the Schneider Electric zone valve should be installed with the actuator positioned above the valve body or at an angle no lower than 85 degrees from vertical.
Is this valve compatible with steam systems?
No, the VT series utilizes a Buna-N paddle. For low-pressure steam applications, professional installers should specify the VS series with highly saturated nitrile components.
