Johnson Controls V47AB-24 Valve
The Johnson Controls V47AB-24 is a direct-acting, commercial-grade temperature actuated modulating water valve designed to regulate fluid flow in response to temperature changes at the sensing bulb. This 1/2-inch NPT valve is engineered for heating applications and high-demand systems, featuring a 75 to 135 degree Fahrenheit range. The cross-ambient sensing element utilizes a 11/16-inch x 3 1/4-inch bulb and a 2-foot capillary to provide precise modulating water flow control. Built with a rugged cast brass body, the V47AB-24 is technically identical to the V47AB-24C, ensuring seamless integration into existing service deployments. The pressure-balanced design employs synthetic rubber diaphragms to isolate the range spring from the media, preventing corrosion and sedimentation while neutralizing the effects of water pressure variations. It effectively minimizes water hammer and chatter, making it a reliable choice for maintaining jacket water temperatures in engines, compressors, and heat exchangers.
Key Benefits- Optimized Performance: Direct-acting modulating water valve opens immediately on temperature increase to protect equipment from overheating.
- Durable Construction: Heavy-duty brass body and corrosion-resistant metal internal parts ensure longevity in non-corrosive fluid systems.
- Easy Maintenance: Designed with a manual flush feature, allowing technicians to clear debris without altering the valve opening point or 150 psig pressure settings.
- Versatile Application: Ideal for HVACR condensers, industrial printing machines, and cooling water conservation in restricted areas.
How do you adjust the opening point on the V47AB-24?
The opening point is adjustable via the screw at the top of the range spring housing. Turning the screw counterclockwise raises the opening point, while clockwise lowers it. Note that the closing point is fixed at approximately 3 to 5°F below the set opening temperature.
What is the maximum temperature rating for the sensing bulb?
To prevent damage to the sensing element, the bulb should never be subjected to temperatures exceeding 155°F (20°F above the maximum 135°F range).
Can this valve be used for potable water systems?
No. This valve is constructed from copper alloy containing lead and is not intended for use in drinking water applications.
