Robertshaw RS9110 Thermostat
The Robertshaw RS9110 Thermostat is a high-performance 1H/1C programmable digital thermostat engineered for precise temperature control in residential and light commercial HVAC applications. As a 7-day, 5-1-1, or non-programmable unit, it offers contractors a versatile solution for single-stage gas, electric, or oil systems. This model serves as the factory-direct obsolete replacement for RS3110, RS6110, 8463, and RS1100-72, allowing for seamless retrofitting without extensive rewiring.
Featuring a 4.6-square-inch blue backlit display and a front-load battery compartment, the RS9110 thermostat ensures easy operation and maintenance. It is millivolt compatible and designed for use with heat pumps that do not require auxiliary or emergency heat. Technicians can fine-tune system performance through an adjustable temperature differential (swing) ranging from 0.2°F to 2.0°F, optimizing cycle rates to prevent short-cycling. The terminal block includes Rh, Rc, C, Y, W, G, O, and B designations, supporting both 24V hardwired and battery-powered configurations.
Key Technical Benefits:
- Universal Compatibility: Operates single-stage heating and cooling systems including gas, oil, electric, and millivolt applications.
- Advanced Programming: Supports 7-day or 5-1-1 scheduling with four programmable periods per day or simple manual operation.
- Contractor-Friendly Installation: Features large terminal blocks, a universal sub-base, and push-in terminals for rapid job site deployment.
- Precision Calibration: Includes adjustable room temperature calibration and a 5-minute compressor delay protection.
- System Maintenance Alerts: Integrated filter change reminder (adjustable up to 2,000 hours) ensures peak equipment efficiency.
Common Installation Questions:
What systems is the RS9110 compatible with?
It is designed for 24V AC low-voltage systems, specifically 1 Heat / 1 Cool conventional systems and heat pumps without auxiliary heat. It is also compatible with 750mV heating systems.
Can this thermostat run on batteries only?
Yes, the unit can be powered by two AA alkaline batteries, making a common wire (C-wire) optional for most 24V installations.
How do I set the fan operation for electric heat?
The technician setup menu allows you to toggle the fan operation switch between Gas and Electric (ELEC) to ensure the thermostat correctly cycles the fan during a call for heat.

I currently have a Robert Shaw 8600 thermostat that I wish to replace. I'd like the wiring to be a straight forward swap. Is this model a good home choice and a good choice replacement for the 8600?
According to factory RS3110 is the replacement for 8600 so it would be a good choice for replacing 8600. Thank you.
