The Schneider Electric (Barber Colman) TK-1001-116 Pneumatic Room Thermostat is the Celsius-dial version of the TK-1001: a direct-acting, 2-pipe, heating thermostat with a 13°C to 29°C dial, built for proportional control of pneumatically actuated valves, dampers and similar devices in HVAC systems. Direct acting means the branch output pressure rises as room temperature rises. The thermostat uses a bimetal sensing element, mounts upright on a wall, and connects with 5/32-inch spring-reinforced plastic tubing, with the main (supply air) port coded black and the branch (output) port coded white. The supply is 15 or 20 psig of clean, oil-free, dry air.

For system design, the TK-1001-116 draws 13.8 scim (3.8 mL/s) of air and its air capacity figure is 16 scim (4.4 mL/s), the numbers used to size the air compressor and the mains. The output signal runs from 0.5 psig up to 0.5 psig below the supply pressure, supply air should never exceed 30 psig, and the unit is rated for 40°F to 150°F (4°C to 65°C) ambient at 10% to 98% relative humidity, non-condensing. The setpoint is exposed on the cover, dial stop pins are supplied so you can limit the adjustment range, and the cover is held by a 5/64-inch Allen screw. The beige plastic cover measures about 4-3/8 inches high by 2-3/4 inches wide by 1-5/8 inches deep.

Know the neighbors before you order. The standard TK-1001 has a 55°F to 85°F dial and the TK-1001-600 is the aspirated version, while the TK-1101-116 has the same 13°C to 29°C dial but is reverse acting for cooling. The factory photo shows the thermostat in its tan plastic cover with vent slots, a temperature scale window and a setpoint slider, black and white tubing, a zinc-plated mounting plate, an Allen key, mounting screws and pins and a gray cover insert plate printed with the Colman globe logo. When a pneumatic zone misbehaves, suspect the air before the thermostat: oil, water or dirt in the supply is the classic cause of sluggish or hunting control. Check the main pressure with a gauge, confirm the tubing is on the correct M and B ports, and only then calibrate or replace the TK-1001-116.

Key Benefits

  • Celsius dial, 13°C to 29°C: For pneumatic zones that read in degrees Celsius, in place of the Fahrenheit-dial TK-1001.
  • Direct-acting heating control: Branch pressure rises with room temperature for 2-pipe heating valves and dampers.
  • Standard pneumatic hookup: 5/32-inch tubing, black main and white branch ports, 15 or 20 psig supply.
  • Low air demand: Only 13.8 scim consumption keeps the load light on an older compressor and dryer.

Common Questions

What is the difference between the TK-1001 and the TK-1001-116?
The TK-1001 has a 55°F to 85°F dial. The TK-1001-116 is the 13°C to 29°C version. Both are direct acting, 2-pipe, heating thermostats.

Is the TK-1001-116 for heating or cooling?
Heating. Direct acting describes how branch pressure follows temperature. The reverse-acting cooling counterpart with the same Celsius dial is the TK-1101-116.

What air supply does it need?
Clean, oil-free, dry air at 15 or 20 psig, never more than 30 psig, delivered through 5/32-inch plastic tubing to the black main port.
