Weil McLain 381-800-667 Replacement Kit
The Weil McLain 381-800-667 Section Replacement Kit is the factory seal kit for rebuilding the joint between cast iron sections on Weil-McLain EG and EGH gas-fired boilers. One kit seals one section joint, so order one kit for every joint you open. The kit contains 3-inch and 6-inch elastomer seals, two pieces of 1/4-inch rope seal, and a 2.8-ounce tube of high-temperature silicone; the product photo shows two black elastomer rings, braided white rope, and a tube of SIL-BOND silicone with its applicator tip. Weil-McLain distributors list it for the EG and PEG boilers as well.
The contents trace back to Weil-McLain service bulletin SB-1003 (July 12, 2010). Cope seal, the high-temperature rope-type sealing compound once sold by the inch (591-641-866), became obsolete in January 2010. Weil-McLain replaced it with 1/4-inch rope sold by the piece, 22.75 inches long (590-735-122), and the EG/EGH kit now carries two rope pieces per joint plus silicone. The silicone is also listed by itself as 513-000-002, a 2.8-ounce tube that covers one section joint. Other boiler families use their own kits: the 66/68 combustion chamber kit 386-500-085 covers the 66/68 boilers, and 386-300-213 is the section replacement kit for the 86/88, so match the kit to the boiler series.
A leaking section joint shows up as water weeping at the seam between sections, rust or mineral tracks running down the casting, soot or flue gas at a joint, or a boiler that keeps losing pressure. Find the source first, because a cracked section needs a different repair than a failed seal. Replacing the seals means draining the boiler, separating the sections at the joint following Weil-McLain's EG/EGH manual, cleaning both mating surfaces completely, seating the elastomer seals, setting the rope seal with silicone, and drawing the sections back together evenly. Refill, pressure test, and fire the boiler to check that the joint stays dry and tight under heat.
Key Benefits
- Complete Joint Kit: Elastomer seals, rope seal, and high-temperature silicone in one kit, so nothing has to be sourced separately for the joint.
- Current Weil-McLain Rope Seal: Built around the rope and silicone Weil-McLain adopted in SB-1003 to replace the obsolete cope seal.
- One Kit Per Joint: Sized for one section joint, which makes it simple to order exactly the number of kits the job needs.
- OEM Specification: The factory kit for EG and EGH boilers, not a generic gasket and sealant assortment.
