Weil McLain 511-405-153 Circulator Pump
The Weil McLain 511-405-153 is the factory service part number for the Taco 007e ECM High-Efficiency Circulator, a variable-speed wet-rotor circulator pump with a permanent magnet ECM motor. The pump in the product photo carries the Taco Comfort Solutions badge, the 007e ECM High-Efficiency Circulator name and an OEM marking, with a STATUS LED window on the motor end. Weil-McLain's Bulletin MB-1907 introduced the 007e as the new service part, 511-405-153, replacing the standard Taco 007 circulator, 511-405-113, on the boilers listed below. The bulletin says the 007e can be used interchangeably with, or in place of, the 007 on those models, with performance that is similar but not identical, and cites up to 50% lower power consumption than AC permanent split capacitor (PSC) circulators.
Weil-McLain lists the ECM circulator on the CGa-25, CGa-3, CGa-4 and CGa-5 gas boilers, the CGi-25, CGi-3, CGi-4 and CGi-5 gas boilers, all CGt gas boilers, the Ultra 80 and Ultra 105 gas boilers, the Ultra Oil 3E and 4E oil boilers, the WGO-2, WGO-3 and WGO-4 oil boilers, and the WTGO-3, WTGO-3L and WTGO-4 oil boilers. On the CGa, CGi, WGO and WTGO families the bulletin applies only to part numbers that currently include a circulator, and other sizes keep the standard Taco 007. Published Taco 007e ratings include 120V, 60 Hz, single-phase power at 0.54 amps maximum, a cast iron volute, a flanged connection, 0 to 16 GPM flow, a fluid temperature range of 36°F to 230°F and a 125 psi maximum working pressure.
The 007e is built to protect itself. BIO Barrier shields the rotor from system contaminants, SureStart frees a locked rotor and self-purges air at startup, and an Integral Flow Check (IFC) is built into the pump to stop ghost flow when the pump is off. It is double insulated, so no ground wire is required, and it comes with dual electrical knockouts and 6-inch stranded leads. The LED status indicator shows orange for normal operation and white while SureStart is working. When a circulator fails, the usual symptoms are no flow with a hot boiler, noise or bearing rumble, air that will not purge, or no motor response with power at the leads. Isolate the boiler and drain it down below the pump, remove the flange bolts, drop in the new pump with fresh flange gaskets, make the 120V connection, then purge the loop and confirm the LED status light and flow before you leave.
Key Benefits
- Weil-McLain Service Part: The factory 511-405-153 number from Bulletin MB-1907, tied to the boiler models that use the ECM circulator.
- ECM Efficiency: A permanent magnet ECM motor that Weil-McLain says cuts power consumption by up to 50% against PSC circulators.
- Built-In Protection: BIO Barrier, SureStart and Integral Flow Check (IFC) are part of the pump.
- Direct Standard-Pump Upgrade: Weil-McLain lists the 007e as usable in place of the standard Taco 007 (511-405-113) on its listed models.
Common Questions
- Which Weil-McLain boilers use the 511-405-153? The CGa, CGi, CGt, Ultra 80, Ultra 105, Ultra Oil 3E, Ultra Oil 4E, WGO and WTGO families listed in Bulletin MB-1907. On the CGa, CGi, WGO and WTGO families, only part numbers that currently include a circulator are affected.
- Can I use the 511-405-153 in place of the 511-405-113? Yes, on the models in the bulletin. Weil-McLain states the 007e (511-405-153) can be used interchangeably with or in place of the standard Taco 007 (511-405-113), although performance is similar rather than identical.
- What does the LED on the pump mean? The status LED shows orange during normal operation and white while the pump runs its SureStart routine to free a locked rotor and purge air.
